Javonte Williams Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors
Javonte Williams had one of the fastest skyrocketing stocks I remember in recent years in dynasty leagues. Going into his rookie draft he was little talked about, then people got hyped. He backed up this hype with solid performance his rookie year before a devastating injury derailed his sophomore campaign.
Because of his disastrous second year, Javonte Williams only earns a 3/10 pedigree score. Though everyone remembers Javonte as an unstoppable force, he still only finished RB18. This was behind his teammate Melvin Gordon.
His consistency score is also very poor at a 3/10. This is largely reflective of his lack of playing time his sophomore season. Not being able to stay healthy for his second year led to seriois inconsisteny. However, his game to game performance had pretty high variance, too. It depended whether Melvin Gordon got the touchdowns or Williams did.
Javonte Williams also secured a 4.5/10 trend score. This is within a hair of 5/10 indicating “no upward or downward trend detected”. This doesn’t really tell us anything other than Javonte Williams came into the league at a high performing level and stayed there.
Overall, Williams earned a 5/10 expert consensus ranking. This is high RB3 range and correspond to where he is being drafted. I think some folks might overdraft him based on name recognition. Some might over-avoid him based on the Broncos performance last year. I think he will be a good player in a split backfield on a team that could go one of two ways.
If Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy have a great season, then it will be TD city for Williams. If it is more of last year, then it will be hard to start Javonte Williams.
Javonte Williams Stats Analysis
There was nothing more frustrating than owning Jamaal Williams, the Broncos getting the ball, and realizing that it was a Melvin Gordon drive. Williams could go entire quarters without touching the ball.
If you think this will change with Sean Payton at the helm, you’re wrong. Payton was famous for running both Ingram and Kamara (to great success) in New Orleans. Samaje Perine was one of the most sought after 3rd down backs in free agency this year. I expect both to get a ton of work.
