Aaron Jones Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors

Once you get past the top 12 running backs in fantasy, everyone has question marks. This is true for Aaron Jones as much as for anyone else.

Aaron Jones in years past has been a bona fide stud. Three or four years ago, Aaron Jones was one of the best running backs in the league. In the past two years, AJ Dillon has stolen a bit of work which has tampered Jones’ fantasy prowess. But he has still been in the top 20% of fantasy-relevant players in the last two years.

The two problems with Aaron Jones are his consistency and his trend. He has been a below average in consistency player the last 2 years. A large part of this is the fact that he has to split carries with AJ Dillon. This naturally leads to inconsistency.

Aaron Jones’ trend has been even less desirable. A few years ago he was a top fantasy player, a perennial first or second round pick. He has cooled off significantly since then, and a lot of that is, again, due to AJ Dillon.

Overall, Aaron Jones slots in the consensus rankings at a 7.5/10, a later RB1/early RB2. Typically with the negative trend and consistency scores, you would expect a little bigger drop in the consensus rankings. This might very well mean that Aaron Jones is being a touch over drafted.

Aaron Jones Stats Analysis

Here’s the thing with Aaron Jones. It’s kind of all about Jordan Love. Can Jordan Love support an offense good enough to justify drafting Aaron Jones? Luckily Aaron Jones is the best skill player on the offense, so if someone is relevant it will be him.

Even outside of Jordan Love, it is also kind of about AJ Dillon. The RB13 price tag is pretty hefty for (a) a guy on a “probably good but potentially mediocre offense” and (b) who will split the carries. The receiving work has always been a big plus for Aaron Jones. If you draft him, you are really hoping it continues.
