Aaron Rodgers Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors
Nobody drove the conversation this offseason as much as Aaron Rodgers. I’m unsure whether this was because he wanted it that way, the New York media effect, or if he really was the most important story of the offseason. Either way, Aaron Rodgers is a fun conversation this fantasy season.
There is no denying Rodgers’ elite pedigree. A few years ago, he was the league’s MVP and the undisputed best QB in the league. He has since regressed as he approaches 40 years old. In 2021 he finished QB6 and last year a bit lower at QB13. These combine to a pretty good 7.5/10 pedigree score. His long-term pedigree, if you choose to consider that, would be even higher.
The biggest problem for Aaron Rodgers is his trend score. Last year was the worst from a fantasy perspective of his entire career as a starter. His yards dropped by 10-15%. His touchdowns by about 25%. His interceptions increased by a factor of 2-3 to a level not seen since his first year as a starter. He was worse in every way, and significantly so. He earned a really bad 2.5/10 trend score.
On the other hand, Rodgers’ consistency was the best we saw last two years. He truly never misses a snap. His game to game performance was even more consistent. He scored basically between 13 and 16 every week last year. The problem is that, though. Consistency is good if someone is consistently good. Still, Rodgers earned a 10/10 for consistency.
Overall, the pundits are a bit pessimistic. Aaron Rodgers earned a 4/10 pedigree score, corresponding to an early QB2. Considering his pedigree and trend scores, this is appropriate. However, if Rodgers returns to form, he could be a huge value pick this year. How big of an “if” that is is your decision to make, though.
Aaron Rodgers Stats Analysis
How much of Rodgers’ decline was the lack of options on the Packers’ offense? After the departure of Davante Adams, there wasn’t much to throw to for Rodgers. Especially for a guy who likes to develop chemistry with receivers.
The Jets have one of the best young receivers in the league and a guy Rodgers has begun to form a bond with in Lazard. Having a good defense give him consistently good field position should give Rodgers plenty of opportunities. I’m curious to see if he is able to bounce back and make the most of his chance in NY.
