Christian Watson Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors
Christian Watson is one of those players whose four factors rating is all over the place. Some are up near 10, some are down near 0, and some are right in the middle. This always makes for fun to analyze, polarizing players. And Christian Watson is no exception.
Christian Watson has a pretty respectable pedigree. He came into the NFL last year as a mid second round pick, a level which often but not always translates to success. He started off slowly but finished as the WR25. This equates to a 5.5 pedigree score, just a notch below the end of the WR2 range.
Watson’s best selling point was his trend score. As I said about, Christian Watson started the season quite slowly as many rookies do. Excluding one random rushing TD, he didn’t break 2.5 points in a fantasy game until week 10. Christian Watson then had 7 touchdowns in 4 weeks and saw his targets and yards dramatically increase too. These combined for a 9.5/10 trend score. Nearly the best we saw from anyone.
Christian Watson’s consistency score is really bad though. One part of this is him only playing 14 out of 17 games. Another part is his really slow start to the season. But the biggest part is his boom or bust tendencies last year.
Watson scored 7 times last year but all in a 4 week period. These weeks had great fantasy production, the rest were more pedestrian. His consistency and touchdown dependence are definitely something to be aware of. Watson earned a 1/10 consistency score.
Overall, Watson is being drafted nearly exactly where he finished last year. If you think he was too touchdown dependent, this is too high. If you think his stats were skewed by the first half of the season. The experts have Watson at 7/10, so they think he finishes as a mid WR2 this year.
Christian Watson Stats Analysis
There are really two questions surrounding Christian Watson. First, was he carried by his high touchdown numbers last year? His ratio of TDs to yards was quite high and more realistic numbers paint a perhaps more pessimistic picture. He did have a few 100 yard games as the season went on.
The second is the rest of the Packers’ offense. Either Watson or Doubs will be the WR1, and it will probably be Watson. But do we think Jordan Love can carry a fantasy relevant offense? Vegas projections have him as the 14th best QB, if that holds it should be enough.
