We may have been spoiled with rookie expectations for wide receivers over recent years. In back-to-back seasons, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase set the all time rookie record for receiving yards. We forget that most rookies take time to acclimate and that that is OK.

Drake London comes in with a pretty hefty pedigree. In the 2021 draft, London was picked #8 overall after having a hugely successful college career. By rookie standards he had a productive yet inconsistent season. He accrued nearly 900 yards and 4 touchdowns. This combined with his high draft pedigree lead to an 8.5/10 pedigree score.

Like many rookies, London was very inconsistent last year. Part of his inconsistency was that his snap count wasn’t elite while he figured out the NFL. On the other hand, London’s week to week performance could have crazy high variance. He put up weeks of 0.3, 0.9, and 1.7 points. He also put up weeks of 11, 12, and 16 points. You never knew what you were going to get, hence his 1/10 consistency score.

Drake London also tallied a poor 3/10 trend score. This indicates actually that London started his rookie campaign better than he finished it. This is not generally a good sign, though I am not terribly worried. If you look at the distribution of touchdowns, they came earlier in the season for London which may have skewed the stats.

Overall, Drake London earns a 7/10 expert consensus ranking. This is “low end WR2” territory. The experts expect kind of a lot from London this year relative to his WR38 finish last year. I think if you look at the end of the season when Desmond Ridder was starting, you will see why. London’s targets and yards were both up, a good sign of things to come.

Drake London Stats Analysis

Drake London is part of a fun offense in Atlanta. The team has nothing but studs at skill positions. Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and Drake London were all early first round picks and should headline a very talented offense.

The only question is whether former Cincinnati Bearcat Desmond Ridder can support a productive offense. In college he struggled with accuracy on long throws. In his 4 games last year he looked OK – managing to avoid any huge mistakes. If he can improve his accuracy the offense could be pretty fun.
