Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors

Pacheco is a fascinating study this year. His four factors stats are truly all over the place. But they actually tell the Isiah Pacheco story really well. I think Isiah Pacheco is a good example of how using the four factors can help contextualize a player’s overall profile and understand what you’re getting with a pick.

Let’s start with pedigree. Isiah Pacheco was a 7th round pick. On top of that, he only put up 800 yards rushing last season. It isn’t like he is coming into this season with a huge expectation that he is going to be the guy.  He didn’t break the world and he wasn’t a big draft capital guy. His pedigree score is a 1.5/10.

On the other han, Isiah Pacheco earned a monstrous 9.5/10 trend score. Even though his season-long stats were pretty poor, he still inspired hope. He accrued the vast majority of his 800+ yards after week 9. Extrapolating this over the course of the season paints an extremely positive picture.

That is, if Pacheco can keep the starting job. His 1.5/10 consistency score is a measurement of how consistent his production has been. The fact that all of Isiah Pacheco’s stats came in the second half of the season means that it could have easily been a flash in the pan. It isn’t nearly as hard to go off for 8 games as it is for 2 full years.

The low consistency score is meant to reflect the fact that the “jury is still out” on whether it is Pacheco’s backfield and whether he has it in the long term. Each of the three ancillary four factors tell a different part of Pacheco’s story.

When they all come together, the experts land somewhere in the middle, at a 6/10 consensus score. This number is a high end RB3. It reflects a potential for huge production but also the potential of a crazy time share.

The problem with Pacheco is that he is (a) on the Chiefs and (b) in a crowded backfield otherwise. Fantasy football managers have been drafting Chiefs running backs for years thinking that even a time share on the best offense in football is valuable.

And it never really has been. Pacheco all but took over the backfield at the end of the last season, hence his 9.5/10 trend score. But that doesn’t mean he will retain control this year. CEH is still there. So is McKinnon. So while Pacheco could be extremely valuable is his production continues, that is a pretty big IF.
