Jonathan Taylor fantasy analysis with four factors

Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors

Jonathan Taylor is an interesting case. Last year, he was the consensus #1 RB and arguably the #1 overall pick. His 2020 and 2021 stats backed this up. In 2021 he was dominant. Last year he was less so, but still pretty good. This is why he earns a 8.5/10 score in the pedigree category.

Experts still seem to like Jonathan Taylor – he gets a 9.5/10 in the consensus ranking. He is typically anywhere from the 3rd to the 5th running back taken. Much of this is driven by volume.

What should really scare anyone about Jonathan Taylor is his trend score. Jonathan Taylor earns a putrid 1.5/10 trend rating. This means that of all 150 players considered in our system, he was in the bottom 20-25 in trend. His performance significantly decreased towards the end of the last season. This wasn’t driven by him missing games last year, but rather by his lack of production even in the games he did play in. His yards per game dropped by more than 25% from 2021 to 2022. Spooky stuff.

He is also only league average in consistency. Typically with a first round fantasy football pick, you want a consistent high producing player. Jonathan Taylor might not be this guy. Taylor is definitely a risky pick.

Jonathan Taylor Stats Analysis

Jonathan Taylor’s consensus and pedigree scream early first round pick, both above 9.5/10. However, it is the other two of the four factors that give us pause for Jonathan Taylor. He is only reasonable consistent. Worse, his performance has nose dived recently. We think he is a high risk, high reward pick this year.
