Kenneth Walker III Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors

Another year, another time Seattle drafts a running back. The merry go round has been rapid in Seattle. In recent years, Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Walker III, and now Zach Charbonnet. This draft pick makes Kenneth Walker III really hard to value.

On one hand, Walker had a strong end to his rookie campaign with increasingly heavy work loads week by week. On the other hand, Seattle recently has a track record of sharing rushing duties between a couple guys that makes the winners hard to predict. There is no ignoring his strong 8.5 trend score, though.

His pedigree score comes in at 5.5/10. Considering he didn’t play week one at all and got very limited touches until week 4 or 5, this score could be much higher. This is captured in his trend score, so the 5.5/10 accurately measures what Kenneth Walker III did last year.

The biggest knock on Walker was his consistency. Not only were his performances kind of all over the place, he didn’t really start getting that many opportunities until the end of the year. Though Penny is gone, the backfield is still busy so I would expect inconsistent performance again this year.

All of these considerations have gone into the expert consensus ranking of 7/10. This is squarely above his pedigree score, but this type of behavior is typical when guys have very positive trend scores.

Kenneth Walker III Stats Analysis

It shouldn’t surprise you because Seattle drafted him, but Charbonnet’s skillset is at least complementary to that of Kenneth Walker III. Their office NFL draft profiles have Charbonnet as a traditional third down passing catching/blocking back. This leaves Kenneth Walker III as the likely workhorse early down back.

This split is standard and the question of the value of Kennth Walker III is how good Seattle’s offense is. Was Geno Smith a flash in the pan? Or is this supremely talented offense with DK Metcalf, JSN, Lockett, Kenneth Walker III, and Charbonnet good enough?
