DK Metcalf Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors
The 2022 season was arguably the worst of DK Metcalf’s career. From a fantasy stats perspective, thiswas definitely the case. Though, luckily for anyone thinking of drafting DK Metcalf, his career has been so productive overall that “worst of his career” is still pretty good.
DK Metcalf has earned a 7.5/10 pedigree score which is headlined by his very productive 2021 season. If our pedigree scores went back for three years instead of two, DK Metcalf would have an even better entry in this column.
Because of DK Metcalf’s comparatively disappointing 2022 season, his trend score is pretty low at a 3/10. He dropped from the WR10 to the WR16. One potential reason he dropped last year was the quarterback play, more on that later.
Finally, DK has been one of the more consistent receivers in the league. He is always on the field and very rarely has dudes. This leads to an impressive 8.5/10 consistency score. All these factors combine together to give DK an overall 8/10 consensus ranking.
DK Metcalf Stats Analysis
There are two very interesting ancillary considerations with DK Metcalf: Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Geno Smith. First, many people debate whether a strong second option on a team helps the alpha or hurts them. Overwhelmingly (Hill, Chase, for example) we see that the presence of another great receiver makes it easier on whoever the top dog is. At least, if the offensive is good enough to have enough points to go around.
That leads to our second question: what happens with Geno Smith. For DK Metcalf owners, the only real difference from his impressive 2020 and 2021 campaigns to his disappointing 2022 campaign was the QB. Since Geno is the QB for the 2023 season, does this mean we should expect more 2022 level performance? It’s a hard question to answer, but one you must if you want to draft DK Metcalf this year.
