I try not to insert my opinion into these data analysis articles. But I will just this once. Mike Evans is a buy, buy, buy at his current ridiculously low cost. Let’s get into why.

I want to start with the pedigree score for Mike Evans. Evans is one of the most famous receivers in the NFL and for good reason. Nine years in the NFL, nine years of more than 1,000 yards. He hasn’t missed that mark once, not even in injury shortened seasons.

Last year, Mike Evans finished the WR17. In 2021 he was even better as the WR6. This turns into a pretty hefty 8.5/10 pedigree score. This is roughly the resume of someone you expect as a mid to late WR1.

Mike Evans has been pretty consistent, too. He doesn’t miss much time. He doesn’t have a ton of dud games. He does have a bit of a tendency to go absolutely bonkers sometimes, though. But because he is good the rest of the time, this is a good thing. For consistrency, he gets 5.5/10.

The only very slight negative for Mike Evans is his 4/10 trend score. Admittedly, this number would probably be a bit lower without his 38 point outing in the lsat week of the season last year. But still, Mike Evans last year was nearly as good as he always is.

The expert consensus score for Mike Evans is a 6/10. This number translates to roughly the WR30 overall. I don’t think Mike Evans has finished that low in his entire career. I know the elephant in the room, but we’ll get to that next section.

Mike Evans Stats Analysis

I am in the camp that both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin suffered greatly from Brady being at the helm last year. Tom Brady was distinctly bad last year. Those saying that Baker Mayfield and/or Kyle Trask will ruin Evans season haven’t been paying attention.

Mike Evans has produced at a high rate his entire career. This includes Bad Brady. Jameis Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mike Glennon, and Josh McCown. It isn’t like Mahomes was throwing to him and now he has Fields. Mike Evans will be fine. Unless Trask is the worst QB in the history of the NFL and still starts.
