Geno Smith Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors

Geno Smith was certainly the breakout fantasy player of the year last year. He doesn’t get enough credit, but he was legitimately approaching “league winner” level last year. He posted an elite QB season as a waiver wire pickup.

Let’s start off with the trend score for Geno Smith. As I said above, Geno Smith had a huge breakout season, going from a nobody to the overall QB5. He finished above Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence but squarely behind the elite tier of Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, and Burrow. His breakout season gives him a 7/10 trend score.

Because he really only had the one good season, his pedigree score is a step back at 5/10. The QB5 finish for Geno Smith is very impressive, though perhaps not impressive enough on its own to warrant calling him a quarterback with “pedigree”.

His consistency at 6.5/10 is a fair bit behind other quarterbacks. A large part of this consistency score is the fact that Geno Smith didn’t play the whole season in 2021. Even in 2022, though, he was only averagely consistent when it comes to quarterback play.

Overall, Geno Smith gets a 4.5/10 expert consensus score. Typically, you would expect the positive trend score to lead to the consensus score being higher than the pedigree score. With Geno Smith, though, there are probably too many question marks. Most notably: was last year a fluke?

Geno Smith Stats Analysis

There is no shortage of weapons for Geno Smith to work with. DK Metcalf is indisputably one of the best wide receivers in the league. Tyler Lockett is one of those “been pretty good for a really long time” guys.

To boot, the Seahawks just spent early draft capital on offensive pieces. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a highly touted prospect, a mid first round pick. At running back, the Sehawks drafted Zach Charbonnet. They are giving Geno Smith a lot to work with. If he can repeat last year’s performance both the Seahawks faithful and his fantasy drafters will rejoice.
