Jalen Hurts Fantasy Fantasy Football Four Factors
Jalen Hurts almost universally slots in a small but distinct amount below Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. And if you look at our four factors analysis, it is clear why. This doesn’t mean that Hurts will finish after these other two guys, just that his ranking is justified.
First, Jalen Hurts pedigree sits at a 9/10 compared to higher score from the other guys. Last year he finished near the top of the QB list, but the year before he was not quite as good. Not having the two really strong seasons hurt his resume just a ton.
Second, even though Jalen Hurts has had elite consistency, it is still a touch below Mahomes and Allen. Jalen Hurts gets a 9.5/10 consistency score. This score is very good, but if you look at the resumes for other quarterbacks, you’ll see that quarterbacks tend to do well in the consistency category overall. So, Jalen Hurts’ 9.5/10 is a positive, certainly, but it isn’t any better than Mahomes’ or Allen’s scores.
Finally, Jalen Hurts has had a pretty good trend as he has improved every year of his career. This has earned Jalen Hurts a 6/10 trend score indicating positive motion in his performance over the last two seasons.
These all combine to give Jalen Hurts an 8.5/10 overall score. Unfortunately, Jalen Hurts draft stock caught up to his actual abilities. Anyone drafting him last year was wildly rewarded with an elite running QB at a low price. Now, though, you won’t find that value. That doesn’t mean Jalen Hurts is a bad pick, quite the contrary. He is going to be good, very good.
Jalen Hurts Stats Analysis
Some people (who don’t watch enough football) think that Jalen Hurts was a flash in the pan; that he will go the way of many running quarterbacks and slow down dramatically after his huge breakout season. However, if you watch Jalen Hurts throw, you will know that is not the case. He can hang in the pocket with the best of them.
As I mentioned when analyzing Devonta Smith and AJ Brown, there may be some slight risk with the Eagles offense regressing to the mean. Last year they had basically no injuries at the key positions or on the offensive line. If someone gets hurt, which is likely, I’m curious to see how Hurts’ performance responds.
